Tegalalang Rice Terrace Trekking Tour Ubud Bali

I am a farmer's child. my village is surrounded by vast rice fields. Even I work as a tour driver, sometimes I still help my parents work in the fields. I love nature that always inspires my life. Every tour that I did with visitors, I always invited them to see the beautiful nature of Bali, which is closely related to agricultural culture. I hope that visitors know how Balinese lives and their relationship with nature. What is interesting that you can see from farmers, so...they have a unique way of how they support religious traditions through farming activities.

I hope, after visiting the rice fields, visitors can praise nature, not damage it and give high appreciation to the farmers because they have provided food for us.

To see this place clearly, we will do a trekking activity for approximately 1 hour. We will pass several rice field paths, a river with a simple bridge and climb a few stairs that will take us to a place on the side of a hill. Down the small road in the middle of the rice fields will provide a pleasant experience. Cool air and beautiful scenery will provide a sense of comfort. You need to be focus and balance when walking along the path, otherwise, you will fall in a muddy area. I will help you in making beautiful photographs to capture your beautiful moment. I will also explain in stages, the process of planting rice from the beginning to the harvest process.

The farmers who work on the field are friendly people. They usually like to interact with visitors. Of course,  I'm ready to help you become a translater if you want to talk to them. They are also happy when you take some pictures while they are in their work.

I will invite you to continue the trekking up to the hill. There is a place with such a beautiful view there. This place is a farmer's front yard. He is very friendly with visitors. He is also someone who can play a musical instrument when he is taking a break from his routines. This farming family also provides young coconuts and other drinks for sale. You can enjoy fresh drinks while listening to music he playing and enjoying the intragenic view of the terrace.

In Tegalalang, the farmers can plant rice 2 times a year, the rice season is depending on the availability of water.  Rice plants need a lot of water, they depend on the water flowing into their fields.

They grow the local types of rice which require a lot of time, need more water, and effort in maintenance.  But their efforts are not in vain because the rice they produce is the best type of rice.

After 2 rice seasons, they must leave the soil dry.  At that time, farmers will plant other crops such as corn, soybean, peanuts, and sweet potatoes.  They keep the soil dry so that the soil becomes fertile again for the next rice season.

By visiting Tegal lalang I hope you can feel how noble the work of the farmers is and how important it is for us to protect nature that provides the food we need every day.

After 1 hour down the rice fields in Tegalalang, you can continue to explore several other activities or places of interest in the Ubud area. You can try the thrilling challenge of Bali Swing, seeing the process of making Kopi Luwak, or visiting Tirta Empul Temple, Monkey Forest, Ubud Market, Waterfall, etc.
