Mount Batur is an ancient, still-active volcano standing at 1717 meters above sea level. Situated in the center of a caldera circle, this geographical feature was created millions of years ago when the surrounding land collapsed from the mountain's location after multiple powerful eruptions. The most recent major eruption, which produced significant amounts of lava, took place in 1926. Climbers can observe various lava formations from different eruptions, providing excellent backdrops for photos.

When climbing Mount Batur in Kintamani, Bali, it's best to do so in the morning to witness the beautiful sunrise and avoid the intense heat later in the day. The hiking trail is mostly treeless, so there aren't many shelters if you decide to climb during the day.

Hikers from outside the Kintamani area will be picked up between 1:00 am and 2:00 am. It takes about 1 hour to get to Kintamani from Ubud and 1.5 hours from Kuta by car.

The climb will take about 1.5 - 2 hours, and climbers will be provided with a flashlight for lighting. While the hiking trail is not too difficult, it's important to prepare your stamina before starting the climb. Approximately 30 minutes before reaching the top, the climbing track will become steeper and will be filled with lava rocks, with steep ravines on both sides of the path.

Mountains are sacred places for the residents of Bali, so it's important to be humble and careful when participating in this activity. Upon reaching the summit, you will be treated to an incredible panoramic view from the top of Mount Batur, with other mountain peaks and a beautiful sunrise appearing from behind the mountain.
