The Bali government plans to build a pier on Sanur Beach in 2020 for all ferries / fast boats that will cross to Nusa Penida. Currently, not all ferry / fast boat companies that dock on Sanur beach have a pier, if you are boarding or getting off a ferry or fast boat you have to go through the beach.  Sometimes you will get wet if the seawater is in high tide.  For that, you have to prepare several items such as sandals, waterproof bags, and a change of clothes.
If you want to get comfortable in boarding or get off the boat, choose a fast boat that has a private dock.  Ask the boat agent about it, before you decide to buy a ticket.

If you want to leave early for the full day Nusa Penida tour, you must arrive before 08.00 am, because the boarding time for the ferry or fast boat for the first trip is at 08.30 am.
Several ferries usually serve the Sanur-Nusa Penida crossing 3 times a day, departure times are usually 08.30 am, 10.00 am, and 04.00 pm. This schedule is subject to change at any time due to weather conditions and other factors.

Ferries that coming from Sanur usually go to several docks/ports in Nusa-Penida, namely Toya-Pakeh pier which is located on the west side and Sampalan pier on the east side of the island of Nusa Penida.
